grimFORGE
Oh, where to begin? I guess at the begining is always nice, but that'll take too long, so here's a short version.
I had only heard about HTML5 and CSS3 some while, and I was on the fence about it for a while afterwards, that is, until I ran across a site I can no longer find or maybe I dreamed it all up (InCSSeption). This site was small and compact, but colorful and full of fluid animations. However, after digging around the code, I quickly learned that the animations were done with javascript. However, the spark was there, and it only grew in time, and before I knew it, I was (and still am) scowering the internet looking up HTML5 and CSS3 tutorials for anything that could replace javascript and jquery animations. While not the prettiest in looks, this website is a love-letter to HTML5, CSS3, and the future of Web Design & Development.
Wow, I guess that's really not that short. Well, it's only more text from here on in, but now you know the history and general purpose of the site. So, feel free to read on or browse the rest of the site! Either way, enjoy.
I started on this theme on May 19th 2011 and finished it whenever. At the time, I was on a huge minimalist kick and so we now have minFORGE.
I tried making space everywhere so the content would be very easy to focus on. I also used whites, blacks, and greys all over for the same reason, giving things of importance (links, logo, etc) an orange color to stand out and say "I AM IMPORTANT!" Also, when the time comes and I re-skin The Lazy Geek blog, it'll probably match designs, just with two columns. That's the plan anyway. Also, for the logo, since it's just text, (I mean, what kind of a logo would represent a "grimforge" anyway?) I made it a single color rather than the gradient I usually use.
Also also, I ditched a number of silly animations from the last theme, namely a lot of the sliding. This is a pretty clean theme. Sparkly even.
As you may have guessed, my name is Connor, and I am a lazy geek. Take that for what you will. I do a lot of things. I play games. I design wesites. I use image editors for a number of projects (Wallpapers, mock-movie posters, icons, etc). I've started to take up writing and at the rate I'm going I'm going to start doing stand up at my local bar. In short, I am a jack-of-all trades. Aside from that, I'm a pretty mellow kind of guy who always looks to the brighter side of things.
